Steel & Stiletto Consulting

About Kit

Forty years running the office side of a real construction and roofing company - before she ever fixed one for anyone else. She doesn't sell software. She figures out what's actually broken, then tells you the truth about it.

Kit Scarfo, business strategist and founder of Steel and Stiletto Consulting

I'm Kit Scarfo - Keitha to my family. I run Steel & Stiletto Consulting, a business strategy practice for contractors and small business owners.

My business education did not start in a classroom. It started inside Scarfo Construction & Roofing, a real family construction and roofing company, where I ran the office side for 40 years. The phone rang. Customers needed answers. Estimates had to go out fast. Paperwork stacked up. Crews needed to be somewhere on time. Somebody had to keep all of it moving at once - that was me.

Along the way I tried the same thing most owners try: stacking one more app on top of the last one, hoping the next piece of software would finally fix it. It didn't. The answer was never more software. The answer was understanding the business first - what's actually broken, why it's broken, and what it would take to fix it - and only then deciding whether a tool belongs in the picture at all.

I don't sell apps. I fix businesses. Put it on a system. Put eyeballs on it. Let the owner be the owner.

That is the whole job at Steel & Stiletto Consulting. I sit down with an owner, find out exactly where the time and money are actually going, and tell them the truth about what's breaking - before we ever talk about a fix. Sometimes the answer is a CRM. Sometimes it's a follow-up system. Sometimes it's a hard conversation about who's on the payroll. I'm not in the business of selling AI, software, or any single product. I'm in the business of getting the owner their business back.

This work is personal because business is personal. It supports families, pays bills, and builds something worth passing down. I spent four decades watching what happens when an owner never gets a break from their own business. I help make sure that doesn't have to be permanent.
